The Council for Higher Education Acreditation carries forward a
long tradition that recognition of accrediting organizations should
be a key strategy to ensure quality, accountability, and improvement
in higher education. Recognition by CHEA affirms that standards
and processes of accrediting organizations are consistent with quality,
improvement, and accountability expectations that CHEA has established.
CHEA will recognize regional, specialized, national, and professional
accrediting organizations.

The Gates Millennium Scholars initiative is aimed at expanding access
and opportunity to higher education to those citizens who will help
reflect the diverse society in which we live. The Foundation seeks

Natives, Asian Pacific Americans, and Hispanic Americans enrolling
in and completing undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The
goal is to promote academic excellence and to provide an opportunity
for thousands of outstanding students to reach their fullest potential.

THE LOUISVILLE INSTITUTE

Through its grant making, the Louisville Institute intends to challenge
and reinvigorate those institutions and leaders through which religion
seeks to address the needs of American society. Preference will
be given to proposals that attempt: 1) to describe more fully how
the Christian faith is actually lived by contemporary persons and
to bring the resources of the Christian faith into closer relation
to their daily lives and 2) to help us understand more adequately
the institutional reconfiguration of American religion. Proposals
on certain other issues of importance to the churches are also welcome.

The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the largest Hispanic scholarship-granting
organization in the nation. HSF recognizes and rewards outstanding
Hispanic students in higher education throughout the United States
and Puerto Rico. These students represent every region of the country,
hundreds of institutions of higher learning and every segment of
the Hispanic community.
