Mission Statement
The Hispanic Theological Initiative is an innovative
program created in response to the needs voiced by religious leaders
and pastors in Latino communities across the U.S. and funded by
The Pew Charitable Trusts. It's purpose is to increase the availability
and quality of Latino/a candidates for faculty and administrative
positions in seminaries, schools of theology, and universities through
a program of doctoral-level grants and awards, mentoring, and workshops.
Program funds are also designated for community building and networking
opportunities for all HTI awardees to interact with other Latino/a
theological students, as well as Latino/a scholars across the country.
